Psychedelic/Rock Musician. A keyboardist and sound manipulator for the musical group, 'The Mars Volta.' The band originally known as 'At The Drive In' was formed in San Antonio, Texas, in 2001, at first featured members, Cedric Bixler-Zavalas, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, and Ikey Owens. The band later became, 'The Mars Volta' and Eva Gardner, Ward, Michael 'Flea' Balzary, and Jon Philip Theodore, also joined. The group released a single called 'European Tour Sampler' in 2002, as well as the album, "Tremulant' on April 2, 2002. On May 25, 2003, tragedy struck the band when Ward died of an apparent drug overdose at his home in Los Angeles, California, after returning from a European tour as an opening act for the 'Red Hot Chili Peppers.' There last album, "De-Loused At The Comatorium" with Ward was to be released on June 23, 2003.
