NEWARK — Debra Jean Branscum Acklin, 55, of Newark died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at her home.
Born Sept. 23, 1955, at Mishawaka, Ind., she was the daughter of Richard and Jane Tripp Branscum.
She was a homemaker and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed her church, fishing and cooking. She was a member of Hazel Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church in Newark.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Dale Acklin; three daughters, Twyliah Acklin, Shelley Pfitzner and Ramona Thompson, all of Newark; her parents of Batesville; a sister, Janie Blaxton of Salado; and eight grandchildren, Kandess Pfitzner, Carsyn Pfitzner, Tylor Thompson, Austin Thompson, Skyler Mitchell, Maison Mitchell and Maddie Mitchell, all of Newark, and Kimberly Pfitzner of Batesville.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Mary Tripp and Elbert and Pearl Branscum.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hazel Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church in Newark with the Rev. Rob Ernest officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Steve Insell, Ted Hyslip, Rusty Branscum, Sammy Page and Gary Bullard.
Honorary pallbearers are Skyler Mitchell and Tylor Thompson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
