Gene Elwin Alexander, 89, Warsaw, Mo., died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Mr. Alexander was born May 11, 1922, in Breckenridge, Mo., the son of Walter Lynn and Ura Pearl (Reimenschneider) Alexander. He married Frances Elizabeth (Wilson) Alexander on May 6, 1966; they had shared 45 years of marriage together. Gene retired as a mechanic for the Missouri State Highway Department.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Alexander and Lynn Alexander; and two sisters, Alma Clevenger and Vera Henricks.

In addition to his wife, Frances, he is survived by four sons, Stanley and Helen Alexander of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Michael and Karla Alexander of Fredericksburg, Va., Clifton E. Floyd of Kansas City, Mo., and Jim Floyd of Arkansas; four daughters, Judy and Eugene Morris of Warsaw, Mo., Vickey and Ross Breeze of Liberty, Mo., Donna and Mike Green of Utah, Mary Jane and Dennis Due of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

Family will have a private burial at the Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the K.C. Hospice, 14500 E. 42nd St. #240, Independence, MO, 64055. Arrangements through the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
