Bobby Ray Akers, 53, of Hewett WV lovingly known to many as "Bob Hoot", son of Marvin and Carlie Akers, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011.

Bobby was a retired coal miner, husband, stepfather and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and enjoy nature. He was also a long time Boy Scout leader for Troop #188, Lake, WV.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Akers; three brothers; Kenneth Zane Akers, Ronnie Akers and Craig Akers; and one sister, Linda Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Ann Akers; three step-children, James (Michelle) Miller of Hewett, Veronica (Mark) Stevens of Hewett and Roger(Debbie) Miller of Louisiana; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Stephen Miller of Hewett, Randy LaDuke and Amanda Stevens of Hewett; mother, Carlie Akers of Isom WV; brothers, Marvin Dwain (Luanna) Akers and Carson (Sheila) Akers; sisters, Adele Holton of Danville and Laura May (Andre) Sauvage of VA; and many nieces and nephews that he loved.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Log Chapel Church at Mikes Fork, Hewett, WV from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17 at the Log Chapel Church with Dennis Dent officiating. Burial will be in the Wallen Cemetery, Mikes Fork.

Bobby passed away at an early age. He didn't have a lot of years in his life, but he had more life than most in his years.

Arrangements are by the Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV.
