ARLINGTON, Wash. -- Maynard W. Hansen, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died June 1, 1999, at his home. Mr. Hansen taught in public schools in Clinton and then at Clinton Community College. He retired in 1981. He was active in the local musicians union. He played with several bands. He was born July 20, 1918, in Marion Township, Iowa. He married Phyllis Kelly in 1943 in Clinton. During World War II, he served as a first lieutenant in the anti-aircraft division of the Army. Memorials may be made to Clinton Community College or Alzheimer's Association. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carole Sharples, Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Stephen, Arlington; four grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Barber, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
