BOBBY EUGENE MORGAN, a native Atlantan, age 79, died peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2011 surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born in West End on September 20, 1931 to Charles C. and Cora L. Hesterlee Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Morgan of Decatur. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Joseph Brown High, where he was a member of the marching band, and kept in touch with classmates over the years, attending many reunions. He was a 36 year retired United States postal worker, a Mason, a volunteer fireman and enlisted in the Army reserve. He was an active member of Cliftondale First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, served as a deacon and was President of the Baptist Brotherhood. He was a former member of Gordon Street Baptist, Beecher Hills Baptist, and Ben Hill Baptist. He is survived by his loyal wife of 56 years, Joyce (Avret) Morgan of Macon, three children, Mary (David) Hand of Newnan; Mark (Karen) Morgan of Columbia, MO and Jane (Steve) Tolleson of Smyrna. He is survived by 8 grandchildren, Christopher and David Bortolazzo; Tyler and Laura Hand; Meredith and Jonathan Morgan; Stephen and Tom Tolleson, and two great grandchildren. He loved collecting antiques, old time radio, beekeeping, tinkering and The Andy Griffith Show. He lived a simple and contented life and found joy in each day. He was honest, friendly, patriotic, resourceful, and disliked wastefulness in any form. He loved the Lord with all his heart, his soul and his mind. He has finished his work on earth and fought a good fight. A crown in heaven is stored up for him where he will hear, "Well done my good and faithful servant." A funeral service will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 4 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing may send an online condolence at www.parrottfuneralhome.com. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory, 770-964-4800.
