He served at Lexington in 1775 and again during the RI Expedition in 1778. He apparently was known as something of a dandy and a lady's man. He married and had a large family which lived in relative poverty in Old City on Proctor Hill. He was a drunkard and did little farming or other work. His family had to fend for itself and most of the children left home at an early age except the youngest son Abial who remained with his father until his death. He was rumored to have courted three daughters of Capt. Joshua Wright, probably Sibbel, Susannah and Sarah and he married the youngest, Sarah. It is probable that he was one of the two Revolutionary War soldiers who died in the Hollis Poor House on the same day in 1837 (or possibly 1838).
