Conrad was the second of eleven children born to Carl Wensel & Mary Ann (Braun) Stovik. He had nine brothers and one sister.

Conrad served in the US Marine Corps during World War II (1942-1945) – achieving rank of sergeant. After the war, he worked in the zinc mines near Metaline Falls, WA.

He never married. Conrad died 11 May 1998 in Metaline Falls, WA at age 89.
