After his death in 1882, Walter was buried at Haynie Point, on property owned by Capt. Cy Haynie near the Great Wicomico River, near Lilian. The engravings on his tombstone included his young son Frederic who had been buried on Haynie Point in 1879. In 1968, that stone was recovered by Mary (nee Biddlecomb) Harry and her son Charles Henry Smith Harry, from a bull dozed wind row. That original tombstone was placed next to the replacement stone in the Biddlecomb family plot in Roseland Cemetery, Reedville.
