Funeral services for Michael L. Angel, 55, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mr. Angel died Aug. 7, 2011, in a Temple Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1956, in Kennedy Township, Pa., to Louis and Cherrie (Hartman) Angel.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1979. He attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas A&M University, graduating with a Master of Science degree. Mr. Angel worked as a biochemist for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Angel, in 1987.

Survivors include his mother, Cherrie Angel of Killeen; a brother, Harold Angel and his wife, Red, of Tyler; two sisters, Cheryl Cooley and Linda Angel and her husband, Stephen, all of Killeen; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ryan Bassett, Frank Burleson, James Cooley, Fred Logan, Richard Monreal and Brandon Weir.

Honorary pallbearers are Austin Cooley, Noel Cooley, Pamela Gilder and Roger "Sam" Griffith.

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
