William Edwin Bishop Sr., 70, a retired farmer, residing at Rt. 6, near Smiths Grove Church, died Saturday afternoon at 12:50 in McGuire's Hospital after a period of declining health.
Mr. Bishop was born in Dinwiddie County, a son of the late Marcus Edwin and Eliza Hawkins Bishop, resided in Brunswick County most of his life, moving back to Dinwiddie a few years ago.
He was a member of Smiths Grove Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ommie O. Bishop, four daughters, Mrs. Virginia B. Short of Rawlings, Mrs. Maxine B. Clary of Petersburg, Mrs. Lavenia B. Gibson of Dolphin and Mrs. Christine B Edmonds of Lawrenceville Va. Two sons, William E. Bishop Jr. of Dinwiddie and Mr. James D. Bishop of Richmond. One sister, Mrs. Cora B. Oakley of Stony Creek and one brother, L. F. Bishop of Lawrenceville.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 3:00 in the chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son.
The Rev. R. E. Murphy, pastor of Smiths Grove Methodist Church will officiate, and the burial will be in Smiths Grove Church Cemetery.
