Mother of Greenwood Supervisor Passes To Reward March 22nd
Mrs. Martha Burnett Listed Among Pioneers of County Coming Here Forty Years Ago With Family
Martha Ann Thomas was born in Middlesex county, Canada, December 1, 1856 and died at her home, March 22nd, 1930, at the age of seventy three years, three months and eight days.
On September 29, 1871 she moved to St. Clair County, Mich., with her parents where she lived until she was married to Wallace Burnett in 1881, who preceded her in death twelve years ago. To this union one son, John Wallace was born, who survives her. They moved on a farm in Greenwood where she has resided for the last forty years.
She was a kind and loving mother and neighbor devoted to her work. She leaves to mourn her departure one son, two grandchildren, one step-son, two step-grandchildren, one brother and three sisters and a host of neighbors and friends who will sadly miss this aged pioneer.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday at 1:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Chas. Kleinhardt, with interment in Greenwood cemetery.
