Angolan Rebel Leader. Head of the Anti Communist UNITA rebels. He was an ally of the US during the Angolan Civil War. After a UN brokered peace treaty, Savimbi went to the hills of Angola and continued to fight the government. He was killed in an ambush by government forces on February 22, 2002.

Gravesite Details

His remains were moved from Luena Main Cemetery, Moxico, Angola to be interred next to his parents in the village of Lopitanga, Bié, Angola, on June 1, 2019.
