Reinhold arrived with his sister Bertha in Quebec, 14 Jun 1912, on the ship HMS Victoria. They crossed the Canadian / U.S. border on 18 June, at St. Albans, Vermont, with their destination as Sykeston, ND. According to records, he left a wife, Rosina, and children in Poland.

He worked as a farmhand for many local farmers. The family story passed down says Reinhold already had pneumonia and he picked up a load of coal in the buckboard, and sought shelter in the Carrington train station, but there was no heat in the station and he froze.

Reinhold was born to Julius and Wilhelmine Petzke, and he was brother to Fredrich, Wanda Herman, Juliana Herman, and Bertha Schultz.

Local funeral home, Knox, handled the burial on 24 April, and Reinhold did not have a formal headstone.
O.A. Convert, undertaker in Bismarck, returned Reinhold's remains to Woodworth for the ceremony.

Note: Due to unfamiliarity with Reinhold Petzke, he was listed as Arnold Pitsky on the coroner's report in Bismarck.
