Carl H. Lewis of Penn (township)

Carl H. Lewis, 88, of Penn, died, Saturday, February 18, 1995, in the Southern Chester County Medical Center, Jennersville, PA.

The husband of Helen Gray Lewis, he was born in Bakersville, NC, a son of the late Stokes G. and Susie Masters Lewis. He had been a resident of Penn for 73 years.

A graduate of Avon Grove High School, he attended Temple University in Philadelphia and was a salesman for Chambers Chevrolet of West Grove. (Chambers Brothers - Whippet, Willys, Knight, and Overland cars.) He later operated the Lewis Family dairy farm in Penn.

An avid hunter, he was a member and treasurer of the Daleville Hunt Club of Potter County, PA.

He and his wife travelled extensively throughout the United States.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Betsy Tibbels of Langhorne, PA; two sisters, Ruth Edwards of Romansville, PA, and Ethel Franklin of Oxford, PA; two brothers, Javine F. Lewis of Cochranville, PA, and Chester R. Lewis of Lincoln University, PA; four grandsons, a granddaughter and a great-grandaughter.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, June L. Cortese, and a brother, Isaac H. Lewis.

Services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, Feb 22, 1995, from the Foulk and Gofus Funeral Home Inc., 200 Rosehill Road, West Grove, PA. Interment will be in Faggs Manor Cemetery, Cochranville, PA. Officiating clergyman will be Rev. Dr. Mel Leaman.
