Ripley, MS - Michael Joe Reese, 50, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Effingham, IL.as the result of a trucking accident. He was born February 13, 1961 to Charlene Short Reese Dixon and the late William Bill Reese. He was a member of Palmer Baptist Church. Joe was a truck driver for Ozark Trucking . He served in the U.S. Marine Corp for four years where he achieved the rank of Corporal, and also served in the National Guard for seven years and four months. Joe graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy in Pearl. He worked with law enforcement for twenty-two years in Tupelo, Ripley, Belmont, Fulton, Holly Springs, and also served as chief of police for Blue Mountain. He also received training in narcotics.

Services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 1, 2011 at Palmer Baptist Church with Bro. Richie Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in Palmer Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Charlene Short Reese Dixon of Dumas; two daughters, Sharon Reese (Lane Alexander) of Ripley, and Leslie Reese (Terrance Edgeston) of Ripley; two sons, Benjamin Reese of Hot Springs, AR, and Steven Reese of Corinth; five grandchildren, Dashonna Alexander, Destiny Alexander, Drake Reese, Memorie Edgeston, and Dakari Alexander; two sisters, Cindy Robinson and Mary Reese, both of Ripley; two brothers, Charles Reese (Maggie) and Jim Reese (Susan), all of Dumas.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie Heavener, John Stubbs, Steve Stubbs, Andy Reese, Sammy Mardis, and Eric Bibb.

He was preceded in death by his father.
