Born in 1701 in Uzès (France). He began his military career as lieutenant on March 18, 1725. He became captain on November 3, 1738 and finally, he was promoted captain of a company of grenadiers in the Regiment of Béarn on November 4, 1757. He obtained the Cross of Saint-Louis on November 3, 1739.
At the time of the Battle of Sainte-Foy, he was seriously wounded in the thighs and he died of his wounds, three months later, on July 23, 1760. He was buried in the cemetery of the General Hospital of Quebec from which a part, called "Cemetery of the Heroes", became in 2001 the Memorial of the Seven Years War.
