Richard Worth Younts, 84, of Ruff Leonard Road, died Tuesday morning, July 26, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Reedy Creek Church of Christ, where he was a member, by Pastor Don Sloan.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home on Ruff Leonard Road.
He was born in Davidson County on Dec. 2, 1926, to Jasper Allen Younts Sr. and Sally Craver Younts. He worked in the water construction business having worked many years with North Davidson Water and retired as a construction superintendent with Rick Younts Inc. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jasper Allen Younts Jr., Zan Younts and Fleet Younts, and three sisters, Laura Perryman, Perry Byerly and Irene Miller.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Blanche Leonard Younts of the home; one son, Richard "Rick" Younts and wife Rebecca of Lexington; one grandson, Daniel Younts of Lexington; and three sisters, Rose Brock, Lucy Shaffer and Amy Jo Hartman and husband Eugene, all of Reedy Creek.
