Alfreida J."Peas" Lewis, 86, of Hamshire, Texas, was born April 21, 1925 in Saratoga, Texas to John Middleton and Dora (Collins) Guynes and shortly thereafter, they moved to Barbers Hill where she attended school. A faithful Christian, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend to many, Alfreida went to meet her Lord on the 23rd of July, 2011 while at The Arboretum of Winnie.

Alfreida will be remembered for her many talents including sewing, cooking, gardening, flower arranging and being a great assistant to her husband, Walter Lewis, when traveling with "Baptist Men Building For the Lord." They were able to lend a hand in many places across the United States, Mexico and Belize for almost fifteen years before moving to Beaumont into an assisted living facility three years ago.

Alfreida is survived by her husband, Walter Lewis of Winnie; son, Tom M. Jones and his wife Kathy of Paradise, Texas; daughter, Jean Jones Caruthers of Hamshire; grandchildren, Johnlyn Lester of Waller, Lara Tippett of New Braunfels, Joseph (Buck) Caruthers of Liberty Hill, Amanda Willett of Orange; great grandchildren, Luke Lester, Darcy Caruthers, Alexander Caruthers, Brittany, Scott and Caleb Willett; sister, Mollie Balla of Silsbee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom H. Jones, daughter, Jane Jones Hatfield, sister Johnlyn Robishaw and brothers, Joe Harvey and Robert Guynes.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Broussard's, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 8:00 a.m. until service time at Broussard's.
