George Bosworth was the son of John A. and Sarah Rowley Bosworth. He was a veteran of WWI having served as a private in the U.S. Army in Company E, 2nd Ammunition Train. His dates of service were from May 13, 1917 to June 20, 1919.

In 1922 he married Hazel C. Anderson, a recent widow of the war with a four year old daughter from her marriage, Margaret Evelyn Anderson. To their marriage were born three children: Richard F., Stuart A., and Virginia L. (Perkins).
