Joe Dinovo passed away on Easter Sunday at the age of 78. Joe was the son of the late James and Anna Gatto Dinovo. He was employed by the NYS Transportation Department for 27 years, retiring in 1987. Joe was one of ten children. He enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with his many dear friends.

I first met Joe when I was 17 and he was 42. I used to play bingo with my friend and it was a weekly time for us to harrrass and aggitate Joe and for no other reason than his sexual orientation. We used to poke fun at him and his friends and thought this was "fun." I hadn't seen him in quite a long time, not until I was well into adulthood.

I approached Joe at bingo and profusely apologized to him for being immature and hurtful and from that day onward, we became good friends. We hugged and kissed every time we saw each other. In fact, I was lucky enough to see Joe a few weeks ago in the pharmacy and give him his last hug and kiss from me.

I thank God for giving me the chance to know Joe and to become his friend and I thank God for making Joe the forgiving person he was.
