The story I always heard was that Dad and Jimmy Sharpe McCutchen went into business together for this dealership. When times were tough and the income was not enough to support both our families, Dad offered to give his portion to Jimmy Sharpe if he could just remove his name from the bank notes. Jimmy Sharpe said no, and Dad bought out Jimmy Sharpe. It took him decades but he made a go of it. When Dad retired, David Chandler took over the car dealership, Dad still held the lease on the building... and as time went by, the building was leased to a couple of other businesses, then finally sold.
