Deacon William J. Lucier, 69, a resident of Uxbridge for 35 years, died July 17, 2011 in UMass Medical Center, Worcester. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Deveau) Lucier.

Rev. William Sanders was ordained a deacon on April 22, 1995 by Bishop Daniel P. Reilly. He began his service at St. Augustine's Church in Millville and was their Permanent Deacon and Office Manager at the time of his death. He was also the Director of Religious Education and along with his wife Nancy, served as Marriage Preparation Ministers at the parish.

Mr. Lucier had served as a Food Service Marketing Representative for Sysco Co. in Norton for 20 years, retiring in 2009. Prior to that, he owned and operated Cheesecake Heaven Restaurant in the former Worcester Center for 13 years.

He was born June 28, 1942 in Louisville, KY, the son of Louis Lucier of Webster and the late Marcell (Ouellette) Lucier. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School in Milford, Class of 1959 and had attended Wentworth Institute in Boston.

Mr. & Mrs. Lucier observed their 47th wedding anniversary on August 31, 2010.

Mr. Lucier was the Grand Knight while being a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in the Millville Council. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society.

In addition to his wife Nancy and his father Louis, he is survived by two daughters: Debi A. Perleoni of South Windsor, CT and Tammy M. Lucier of Ashford, CT; two sisters: Nancy A. Lucier of Millbury and Beverly A. Langlais of Dudley; 6 grandchildren including: Scott, Marc, Kristina, Nicole, Gianna and Max and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Richard Langlais and a cousin, Joe Ouellette.

A concelebrated funeral Mass was held in St. Augustine's Church, Millville, MA. The celebrant will be Most Rev. Bishop Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester.
