Born in the Los Angeles area in the 1920s, Robert Lee Kitchel, (often known as Bob or Bobby) was the youngest of several siblings. He had a few sisters and one brother—all of whom who preceded him in death. Most recently was his older brother, Ralph, who passed in 2008 at the age of 95. Most of his Kitchel side hailed from Iron County, Missouri.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy—having served just after World War II in the late 40s—and did a tour on the USS Hornet (CV-12). In November 1951 he married Marilyn "Francine" Brewer and went on to have three children. He spent most of his working career with the Anaheim City School District as a custodian for Edison Elementary. He later retired, but then went back to working for another district—Corona Norco Unified—as a crossing guard.
In addition to his wife and children he is survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
