Former Lewiston resident Sally Elizabeth (Bonner) David died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in Boise. She was 89.

Sally was born to an early pioneer family in Lewiston on Nov. 11, 1912. Her parents were Jack Bonner and Elizabeth (Vollmer) Bonner. She was raised in Lewiston and attended school at the Dominican Convent in San Rafael, Calif. She attended several colleges before graduating from the all-male Yale University in Connecticut, majoring in theater arts.

During World War II, she and her sister, Genevieve, worked for Boeing in Seattle, where she rose to be the head supervisor of parts expediting.

She married Dr. Franklin C. David of Moscow in April 1946. They moved to Boise in 1947, where they had three children. Dr. David died in July 1966.

Sally was a fun-loving, adventurous "free spirit," who enjoyed her family, many friends, home canning, bridge, numerous social activities, and their summer home in Loon Lake, Wash.

She was a member of St. John's Cathedral, St. Luke's Auxiliary, and the Junior League of Boise.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Genevieve Bonner Hancock.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at St. John's Cathedral in Boise.
