Mrs. Maude Cora Gordon passed away Saturday afternoon at the Clare Osteopathic Hospital following a long illness.
Maude Cora Hartman was born July 2, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Hartman, in Arthur township. She attended the Balsley School and the United Brethren Church at Brown Corners.
In 1908 she was married to Roy John Gordon. They resided on the Cornwell Ranch north of Clare for many years while her husband was employed there. The couple had eleven children.
Following her husband's death in 1954 she came to live in Clare at 604 North Cunningham with her daughter Miss Thelma. She had been a patient at the Clare Nursing Home for several months.
Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Cecile Reed of Lansing, Mrs. Irene Rhynard and Miss Thelma Gordon of Clare, Mrs. Laura Hendricks of Normal, Illinois, Mrs. Betty Murphy of Gladstone, Mrs. Bonnie Gordon of Sanford, two sons, Robert Gordon of Coleman and Leland Gordon of Clare, one sister, Mrs. Carrie Mickle of Clare, one brother, John Hartman of Farwell, 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
A member of the Clara Rebekah Lodge for many years, the Rebekah service was held on Sunday evening May 18 in the Chapel of the Brokering Funeral Home in tribute to her years of service to the order.
Funeral services were held from the Chapel Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Rev. Elden Eldred of the Farwell Methodist Church officiating and burial in the family lot in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
