Cara Elaine Haymes Alcock, 85, of Forest, died Saturday, December 1, 2007. She is the widow of Lewis Steven Alcock.
Born in Lynchburg, December 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Albert Haymes and the late Reba Hayden Haymes. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carter Edward Haymes and J. Burch Haymes; one sister, Janie H. Logwood and her grandson, Landon David Fulcher.
Cara married Lewis Steven Alcock on June 7, 1941 and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Old Forest Road Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine A. Ballagh and husband, R. Douglas, Suzanne Fulcher and husband, David and Cara Lu McConville and husband Allen; seven grandchildren, Michael D. Ballagh and wife, Debbie, Steven H. Ballagh and wife, Elina, Kelly F. Pinkham and husband, Brian, Carter D. Fulcher, Leslie M. Hawkins and husband, Benjamin, Lauren M. Clark and husband , Judson, Lindsay M. Peters and husband, Christopher; 14 great grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph A. Haymes and wife, Geraldine, of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Doctor Harmon H. Haymes and wife, Bea, of Bedford.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., today, at Old Forest Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
