The widow of Col. John A. Cockerill, who last Thursday became the wife of Walter Louis Lienau, said yesterday that the marriage was the outcome of a sudden proposal Mr. Lienau made while taking a cab ride with her. Within twenty minutes after the proposal the ceremony had been performed.
It is less than three weeks ago that Colonel Cockerill’s body was buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis. He died at Cairo, Egypt, April 11. His widow as reported to have been prostrated on receipt of the news and was ill for several days.
