Mother, Grandmother, local civic leader. Mrs. Parker was a self taught granddaughter of a slave, who persevered in life and became an entrepreneur. As a woman of vision and strong character she determined that all of her children must be educated, and indeed each in turn subsequently earned a college degree. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage, but left this life much loved for her wisdom, integrity, compassion, and fortitude.
