Funeral services for Captain Wayne Agent, 69, of Marshall will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Yates Memorial Cemetery with full police honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, July 16th at the Downs Funeral Home. Captain Agent passed away on July 14, 2011 at his residence.

Wayne was born in Union, Mississippi on July 26, 1941. He married Regina Putnam on December 21, 1966 in Marshall, Texas. To this marriage a daughter, Dara, was born in 1977. Captain Agent was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He graduated from high school in Newport, RI and attended Kilgore College Police Academy, and received his associate degree from Panola College, and his bachelor degree from the University of Texas. He joined the Marshall Police Department in April 1968 and retired as a Captain on January 31, 1999. He then was the Chief of the Texas State Technical College in Marshall and retired on January 31, 2010 after twelve years of service. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marines and served two years in Vietnam. He was a loving grandfather, loved to ride motorcycles, loved fishing and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge in Marshall. He was loved by many people in Marshall.

Survivors are his wife Regina Putnam Agent of Marshall, daughter Dara Clark and her fiance' Michael Thurmon of Marshall, five grandchildren Dustin Weaver, Trevor Clark, Kaeleigh Clark, Dylan Thurmon, and Cannon Tate Thurmon, a special niece Crystal Hamblen, brother Walter Hall Crenshaw, Jr. and wife Brenda of Orlando, Florida, sister Gloria Jean Smith and husband Reagan of North Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family request memorials to Heartsway Hospice and a special thanks from the family to them for Wayne's care.
