Funeral services were held on Monday, September 25, 1978 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer at 1:30 p.m. Officiating Rev. Harrison G. Dawes.
Pallbearers; John Haaland, Paul Haaland, Joel Haaland, Phil Wheelock, Bob Ridel, Russell Haaland, Geoffrey Haaland, Richard Miller.
Interment was made at the Northlawn Cemetery in Spencer.
Thorvald John Haaland, son of Thor and Johanna (Hayes) Haaland was born on May 21, 1894 in Clay County, Iowa.
He received his education in Clay County and has been a lifetime resident of same where he had farmed most of his life.
Mr. Haaland married Florence Collins on June 25, 1919 in Spencer, Iowa.
T.J. was member of the United Church of Christ of Rossie, Iowa.
Mr. Haaland was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence on February 26, 1975; four brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Haaland died enroute to Rochester, Minnesota on September 21, 1978 at the age of 84 years, 4 months.
He is survived by three sons, T.J. Haaland, Jr., of Royal; Verne of Cedar Rapids, and Russell of Sioux Rapids; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends.
