He was born on Jan. 30, 1943 in Rankin, Illinois to the late Fred and Laura Phillips Obenland. He married to Marcia Havrilesko on June 22, 1998 in Lafayette. She died Jan. 31, 2009.
Surviving are sons, Christopher A. Obenland (wife: Shondell) of California, Ty Lee Obenland (wife: Amber) of Hoopeston, Illinois and Brock A. Obenland (wife: Stacy) of Champaign, Illinois; sisters, Mary Ann Diskin (husband: Donald) and Patricia Haley (husband: John), both of Rankin, and Beverly Berry of Indiana; a brother, Fred E. Obenland (wife: Sue) of Hoopeston; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
