Everett W. Orr, 98, of Jefferson City died Saturday, July 24, 1993 at a hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He had been a resident of Good Shepherd Retirement Home in Little Rock since December, 1992. He was born March 4, 1895 in Maries County, the son of the late George and Rhoda (Prater) Orr.
On September 12, 1920 he was united in marriage to Julia Ricker. She preceded him in death in 1986. Survivors include a son Everett W. "Bill" Orr Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Everett was a World War I veteran, a member of the Western Hills Assembly of God in Jefferson City, and early day pioneer of the outdoor advertising business in Missouri, owned and operated home furnishing businesses for many years and retired from the Jones Store Company in Kansas City in 1961. He and his wife moved to Jefferson City from Kansas City in 1974.
Services were held the following Wednesday in the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Meta. Rev. Thomas Hale officiated. Burial was in the Meta Southside Cemetery. (From the collection of obits by William "Bill" Schwegler)
