Around 1949-50, Robert enlisted in the Army for 2 years of service after which he returned to Cohasset. Upon returning he became a mate on the Famous & Fabled Groote Beer yacht and in 1953 set sail down the Eastern Seabord, along with his mother and his step-father Captain Gatton of the yacht. The yacht ended up in Dallas by 1955 and was sold.
Robert ended up and remained in Fort Lauderale, along with his mother & sister, where they all settled.
On March 16, 1960, he married Karen and they had three children: Thomas Robert, Deborah Kay and Anthony Michael.
Robert and Karen divorced in 1972 and Robert remarried in 1973 to JoAnne and they had two children: Robert Anthony Jr. and Steven Noel.
Robert was a Police Officer with Wilton Manors, Margate and with the Broward Sheriffs Office and started with the
Sunrise Golf Village (City of Sunrise) Police Department in 1961. For a while he maintained his status as a part-time Police Officer, while he was full time as Assistant Director of the Broward County Dog Pound & later Broward County Rabies Control.
He eventually went full-time with the Sunrise Police Department, where he remained until he retired in 1996. He then joined the Seminole Police Department until 2002.
Robert's involvement in Police work spanned 45 years.
On May 20, 2009 Robert died and he was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetary South in Davie. (Bio by TRH)
