Son of Charles Coppage of Virginia (circa 1687-1750) and Lucy Sarah Lunsford (circa 1718- 1748). Husband of Mary Jane Catlett (1738- 1812). They were married 26 July 1764 in Fauguier, Virginia. They were parents of Travis Coppage/ Coppedge and at least 12 other children. Moses Aaron Coppedge (Coppage) was a footsoldier in the French-Indian War from Prince William County, Virginia. He was also a soldier in the Revolutionary War, Virginia Colonial Militia. He first came to Kentucky in a party led by Daniel Boone when daughter Margaret 'Peggy' was abt 7 years old", circa 1777- 1780. SOURCE: Coppage-Coppedge Chronicle 1542-1975 pg 261.

Washington County, KY became part of Marion County circa 1834. His exact burial location is not known to be marked by any existing stone. . Moses Aaron Coppedge could be buried at Coppage Cemetery Graveyard or at Old Liberty Cemetery-near Bradfordsville - in what is now Marion County, Kentucky in an unmarked grave, near to grandaughter Lucinda Coppage Burke and grandson Fielding Coppage/ Coppedge and other Coppage kin. This old Coppage Graveyard may now be on private property. Several Coppage kin are buried in Old Liberty Cemetery. See source: "Welch and Allied Families"...page 251-252.

MOSES COPPEDGE (1735-1801) (See Chapter Four, "Coppage-Choppedge Chronicle 1542- 1975"), "moved at an early age to Prince William County, Va., where in 1756 he was a foot-soldier against the French; in this same year he qualified to receive his share of his father Charles's estate, having previously been left a bequest by his uncle James ; he was on the Fauquier Rent Roll, 1770 for 275 acres of land ; he married Mary Jane Catlett, (daughter of John, son of Wm., son of David, son of Nicholas, son of Col. John Catlett from Sittingburne in Kent; England). Mary Jane was related in some way to Lord Fairfax, whose coach passed down in the Catlett family, and the door is now a carved tobacco stand. Mary Jane was descended from a sister of the great Sir Francis Bacon through the Woodhouses and Meriwethers ; she was related in some way to the family of Col. Raleigh Travers of Lancaster. The Coppedges moved to Ky. about 1777-9 and handed down a tradition of life in forts; two sons, Wm. and Alexander, were wounded by Indians, the latter mortally".
