He was born in Chester on June 29, 1939, and was the son of the late Elmer M. and Ethel M. (Brewer) Robinson. Living his entire life in the area, Mr. Robinson was a carpenter and retired in 1987 from the Morning Journal, where he worked in the maintenance department. He attended the West Point Nazarene Church. He belonged to the Moose Lodge in East Liverpool, Chester American Legion and West Point Rod and Gun Club. Mr. Robinson was a volunteer fireman and policeman in Chester and enjoyed hunting, wood carving, riding his lawn mower and gardening.
His second wife Gloudia Mae (Belcher) Blankenship Robinson survives him at home. They were married in 1976. He is also survived by three sons, Mike, Rick and Jeff; three daughters, Kimberly, Jeanne,and Deborah; a daughter-in-law, Cathy; a sister, Zella; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Blankenship; two brothers, Virgil Robinson and Donald Robinson; and four sisters, Belva Morris, Mable Delores Robinson, Grace Robinson and Edna Robinson.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Adams, formerly of the West Point Nazarene Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta. today, Friday July 1, 2011, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
