BASIC INFO: Mary (Bates) Cleveland (1667-1743) was born in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Bates (1641-1672) and his wife Mary (Farwell) Bates (1640-1714). In 1689, in Massachusetts, Mary married Josiah Cleveland, Sr. (1667-1709). Mary (Bates) Cleveland died in 1743 in Canterbury, Connecticut. Child: Josiah Cleveland, Jr. (1690-1750).

BURIAL: Although no stone has been found, Mary was almost certainly an early burial in the Cleveland Cemetery, where there are a few intact stones dating to the period of her death.
