Emmett Townsend, 59, died at his home, 436 East Washington street, at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning after an illness of the past two months. Born in Pewamo, August 15, 1882, he made his home in Ionia county for the past 20 years. He married Lavancha Ingraham of Portland in February 1917. Since February 1941 the couple have made their home in Ionia city. Before that time he was a farmer.

Surviving are the wife; three sons, Albert and Weston of Ionia and Harry of Detroit; three daughters, Mrs. Seth Nobel of Muir, Mrs. Peter Jerosimick of Ionia and Miss Mary Townsend at home; two brothers, Frank of Muir and Fred of Lyons and one sister, Mrs. Ora Gee, of Lyons.

Funeral services will be held from the Boynton funeral home on Rich street Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Romig will officiate and interment will be in Lyons Cemetery.
