ACKER GAIL M. ACKER (Age 50) Formerly of Cohoes, NY died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, NY she was the daughter of Joyce Shovah Cioffi of Cohoes and the late Joseph Cioffi. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School and SUNY Utica-Rome. She has resided in Virginia for the past 6 years. She received her nursing degree from Samaritan School of Nursing, Troy, New York and continued her education to receive her Bachelor''s of Science in 1982 from SUNY Utica Rome, where she met her soul mate and husband of nearly 27 years. She went on to dedicate more than 20 years to maternal child health nursing, working in hospitals, clinics and schools across the country. Her care and compassion has been shared throughout numerous states and countries as she performed her patriotic duty as the supportive and loving wife to a husband who served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force. Gail has served as School Public Health Nurse in Fairfax County Virginia for the past 6 years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity in Burke.

A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at noon at the Church of the Nativity in Burke. Those who wish may make contributions to the Gynecologic Disease Center, The Henry M. Jackson Foundation, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in care of the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford, NY 12188.
