As a young boy his family moved to the state of Washington. Jack served in the U.S. Army. He lived in New York for a period of time after his military service ended. He was also to live in California and Nevada. While Jack and his wife, Harriet Mary, had two children, Jack was also a father to five step-children and an adopted grandson.
