Charles' parents were:

Father: William P. Adams (1814 - Unknown)

Mother: Sarah Ann (1808 - Unknown)


As a small boy he lived on Worcester Road (1847 - 1854) near the Stephen Ames site. He was also the owner of a gun made by Stephen Ames. He was the owner of 57 Federal Hill Road in 1877 and lived there until his death.


Civil War Veteran - Enlisted on September 27, 1862, age 18, and mustered on October 9, 1862, into Company E, 15th Regiment, New Hampshire Infantry (Union). Enlisted Rank: Private.


The 15th New Hampshire Infantry was organized in Concord, New Hampshire, October 6–16, 1862, and mustered in for nine months' service.


The regiment left New Hampshire for New York City on November 13, 1862; then sailed for New Orleans, Louisiana, December 19, arriving December 26. Moved from Carrollton to Camp Parapet, Louisiana, January 28, 1863, and duty there until May. Moved to Springfield Landing May 20–22.


Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Siege of Port Hudson May 21-July 9, 1863). The regiment moved to Concord, New Hampshire, July 26-August 8.


Mustered out on August 13, 1863, at Concord, New Hampshire.


Invalid Pension filed on July 16, 1864 (Application No. 48, 608 and Certificate No. 36, 095. Widow Pension filed on January 18, 1930. (Application #1,659,240).
