ROSSVILLE, GA - Ralph Harold Abbott, 83, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011.

He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Church of God faith.

He was an Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War and enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horton and Mary Abbott; four brothers, Fred, Bennett, William and Marcell Abbott; two sisters, Margaret Irene Abbott and Ola Gilbert; his first wife, Iris White Abbott and his second wife, Minnie Jeffrey Abbott.

Survivors include his two sisters and brother-in-law, Myrtle and (Henry) Abbott and Mary Lee Adkins, all of Rossville, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. Roy Cope officiating.

Burial will be held at noon CST (1 p.m. EST) in the Little River Cemetery in Mentone, Ala.

The family will begin receiving friends after 3 p.m. today, all day Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
