Mrs. Fern Scranton, 71, of Elkins died March 14, 1986 at a Fayetteville hospital. She was born Feb. 9, 1915 at Wesley, the daughter of William (Bill) and Lucy Estella King Allison. She was a homemaker and a retired housekeeper at the University of Arkansas. A lifetime resident of the area, she was a member of the Church of Christ and a charter member of the Quilting Club at Thorney.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Scranton of the home; three sons, C.B. Scranton of Greenland, Luther Scranton of Wesley and Phillip Scranton of Elkins; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Ballard and Mrs. Tropha Williams, both of Siloam Springs; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were Monday, March 17 at Wesley Church of Christ in Wesley. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery near Elkins under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville.
Pallbearers were Billy Williams, Tommy McFee, Phil Johnson, Danny Fields, Michael Mills and Martin Swain.
