Former Greenport resident Ethel May Sammis died Jan. 15 at her home in Northport, L.I. She was 85
Born July 31, 1897 in Florida, N.Y., Mrs. Sammis was the daughter of Edward and Agnes Lawrence Culver. Mrs. Sammis moved from Greenport to Northport 17 years ago.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph A.; a daughter, Norma s. Wells of Southold; two sons, Newton R. of Boynton Beach Fla. and Edward L. of Danbury, Conn.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two sons, Harold J. and John C. predeceased her.
Graveside services were held Monday, Jan 17 at Stirling Cemetery in Greenport, with the Rev. John Walker officiating.
