Albert Leon Virden was born in Ramsey, Illinois to Melvin and Bertha Patton Virden. He married Harriett Ann Lewis on April 23, 1948. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Harry Leon (and Linda)of Bellevue, three daughters Alberta Ann (and Hugh) McQuarrie, Linda Lou (and Bobby) Brown both of Hanna City and Elizabeth Susan (and Steve) Mizell of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; two brothers Eli Virden of Kissimmee, Florida and Melvin (and Connie) Wiseman of Bellevue. Three sisters, Carmen Claybon of Peoria, Nellie (and Roger) Thornton of Bartonville and Mabel (and Robert) Westlake of Peoria; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
A world War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Veterans Foreigh Wars Post 1984 in Canton, Illinois.
He owned and operated M&H Auto Sales until he retired in 1991 and he was a truck driver for Kroger for ten years.
Burial was Dec. 20 in Smithville Cemetery where military rites were accorded.
