Mrs. Dement died on July 4, 2009, in Tyler.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Wayne Dement; son, Stephen Dement; brother, Wayne Williams; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Dement was born in Arp on Feb. 20, 1921, to Newman Williams and Lorene Patterson Williams. She graduated from Arp High School and the Federal Institute of Tyler. A secretary and bookkeeper, she worked alongside her husband in the electrical contracting and lighting fixture business for over 30 years. Her Christian faith was unshakeable. One of her greatest joys was teaching preschoolers at First Baptist Church for over 47 years while serving as volunteer nursery coordinator for most of that time. In later years, she received much joy as she watched the development and growth of The Brook Hill School, praying daily for the school since its inception.
The family extends their appreciation for the loving care provided by the staff of Azalea Trails Assisted Living; friend and caregiver, Dianne Livingston; and Heart to Heart Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to The Brook Hill School, P.O. Box 668, Bullard, 75757.
