"Snakey" McNutt died December 2, 1979 in Polly Ryan Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. A native of Kenney, Texas, he had been an electrical contractor for 22 years. When he first started McNutt Electric, there were always maroon work vans at his house. He had the building for Lights Unlimited built, and it opened for business in late November, but he didn't live to see the "Grand Opening". That building was his dream!
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He entered the Army February 10, 1941 from Houston, Texas; served at Camp Bowie, Texas; Camp Blanding, Florida; Camp Edwards, Massachusetts; A. P. Hill, Virginia; Fort Dix, New Jersey then went overseas; when he left the Army he was stationed in San Antonio. He served with the 363th Tank Destroyer Battalion (of the 36th Division); he was a lieutenant.
He served on the Lamar Consolidated School Board for nine years and on the Rosenberg City Council for four years. He was active in the Lamar Little League, the formation of the present-day Minor League, and the Rosenberg Babe Ruth League. Snakey got his nickname from playing in the outfield during baseball games—he didn't run in a straight line to catch fly balls, but ran in a "wavy" pattern like a snake.
According to Tim McNutt, all 4 brothers loved to play "42"...("42" is a dominoes game.....usually have multiple tables of 4 playing and winners end up playing winners.....lots of fun!...Thanks to Lisa Miller McNutt for the definition!)
He was a member of the First United Methodist church of Rosenberg, the Rosenberg Lion's Club, the Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge of 881 and the Arabia Shrine Temple. He married Moydale Agnes Neuman October 14, 1941 and had two children, Thomas Carlton "Tom" McNutt of Rosenberg and Gaye Lynn McNutt of Oklahoma. He had 3 brothers, Guy McNutt of Rosenberg, Ernest Paul "Dyke" McNutt of Angleton, and Walter "Oot" of Columbus and two grand daughters, Michelle and Madonna McNutt. He also had a great granddaughter, Kennedy Aileen Self (1998) born after his death.
During his illness, his wife Moydale loving cared for him at home and hardly ever left his side. His brother, Guy McNutt, was great about coming to visit while Moydale went to get groceries!

Donna McNutt said: "Snakey was one of the most wonderful men I have ever met....he was taken from us much too soon. He loved life and worked hard....created a son exactly like him! I miss him so much."

Linda McNutt Wyatt said: "I spent so much time in Rosenberg with Aunt Moydale and Uncle Snakey in their beautiful home. Uncle Snakey was ALWAYS so very nice to me. I felt so comfotable in their home. He treated me as though I was one of "his". His laugh was so infectionious. He was sooooo tall. I always thought of him as being a giant of a man. And he was in so many ways. Love you Uncle Snakey."

DeDe Sullivan said: "I always loved that big kitchen with the wooden cabinets. That kitchen had more room than 3 regular kitchens. The most storage I had ever seen!" and "Uncle Snakey was always so nice, and really funny!"
