Monsignor Ralph John Belluomini 1932 - 2011 Monsignor Ralph John Belluomini "Father Ralph" was born November 27, 1932, in Bakersfield to Peter John and Elena (Lencioni) Belluomini from Lucca, Italy, and passed away on June 17, 2011 in Bakersfield from cancer. He was educated at St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated from Garces Memorial High School in 1951. In his youth, he worked in the family business, City Mercantile Company. The Lord called him to become a diocesan priest. Father Ralph entered St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, being ordained May 28, 1960, and celebrated his first Mass in Bakersfield. The Monterey-Fresno Diocese assigned him to Sacred Heart Church in Salinas for his first three years then assigned him to St. Joseph's Church in Bakersfield, his home parish. Over the next 48 years he served the Church in various capacities as Director of St. Vincent de Paul, Director of Catholic Charities, founder of San Felipe Boy's Home and Casa Maria Girl's Home, lecturer at Garces Memorial High School, Administrator/Pastor of San Clemente Mission where he managed construction of a new church building, and as chaplain to the hospitals of Bakersfield. He celebrated 50 years as a priest in 2010 with a Latin High Mass. He enjoyed fine art, Italian opera, traveling to Italy, local history and friends. Father Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elena. He is survived by his sister Angela (Seth) Brumley of Edmond, Oklahoma, brothers Gabriel Belluomini of Bakersfield, Michael (Christine) Belluomini of Merced and sister-in-law Jackie Belluomini of Bakersfield; nephews and nieces, Peter Belluomini of Bakersfield, Marc Belluomini of Newport Coast, Denise (Mike) Foster of Bakersfield, Eva (David) Saltenstal of Mission Viejo, Anna Brumley and Yara (Joe) Ford of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kimberley Krebs of Merced and Gina Belluomini of Bakersfield; 13 great nieces and nephews, Heather, Ashley, Katie, Justin, Sharlynn, Andrew, Trevor, Tristan, Seth, Samantha, Sky, Alexis, Adriana and two great great nephews Tyler and Dustin. He also leaves behind his aunts, Rita Bertolucci and Josephine Lencioni of Bakersfield, Mary Pedeflous and Rosie Lencioni of Fresno and many cousins. The Rosary will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 7 p.m. at San Clemente Mission with viewing beginning at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 825Chester Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
