Obituary: Bertha E. Smith, 99, of Burlington and formerly of Barron died Oct. 8 at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove. Funeral services were Saturday at Rausch-Rockman Funeral Chapel in Barron, with the Rev. Ralph Marquardt officiating and burial in Dallas Cemetery in the Town of Dallas. Mrs. Smith was born May 1, 1903 in the Town of Dallas to Sidney and Julia (O'Flanagen) Cole. She grew up and attended school in the Dallas area. On June 8, 1923 she married Hobart Smith at Dallas and they lived in the Dallas area and later moved to the City of Barron. Mrs. Smith had lived in Burlington since 1959. She is survived by four sons, Marshall of Jim Falls, Gary of Hayward, Niles of St. Paul and Terence of Burlington; a daughter Jelaine Gruber of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Irma Oscar of Las Vegas. Mrs. Smith's husband, Hobart, preceded her in death. A son Curtis also preceded her in death.
