Daniel E. Yeater, 88, of Moline, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. on Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by American Legion Posts 569 and 200, and VFW Post 1303. Visitation is an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to any veteran's organization.

Daniel was born on March 15, 1923, in Moline, a son of Henry and Esther Carrington Yeater. He married Lola Willhouse in 1946, in Moline.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Armed Forces. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired as a staff sergeant from the Air Force in 1969.

Dan was a life member of the American Legion Post 569 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1303. He enjoyed playing the lottery and riding the bus.

He is survived by his nephew, Arthur (Sharon) Twitty; nieces, Shirley Fitzgerald and Esther (Bill) Eggers; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; brother, Harold Yeater; and his sister, Dorothy Twitty.
